Magnolia, TX is normally not considered a craft beer mecca. However, when you make a beer like Yellow Rose IPA, it doesn’t matter where Lone Pint Brewery is located, just that they exist.
This beer is consistently rated as one of the top IPAs in the state and it’s easy to see why. There is quite a bit of grapefruit flavor that comes through on this brew and the aroma is fruity from the first pour. It uses Mosaic hops that are unbelievably flavorful, but not overpowering like many IPAs.
Pouring at 6.8% ABV, this beer is a perfect balance of strong, yet drinkable. Part of what makes it great is the medium body of the beer with the tropical notes that will hit you throughout each sip. There are very few IPAs out there that are as good and as beloved as this gem. From what we hear, it’s even better on tap. We’ve only ever enjoyed it in the bombers they package, but we will be seeking this out on draught.
This is my go-to hoppy beer in Houston bars. Unfortunately, it’s not as available as some of the other (also good) hoppy Houston offerings. So, Hopston (8th Wonder) and Hopadillo (Karbach) often have to tide me over.
I agree, most bars don’t carry it often. I’ve found Underdogs to carry it fairly often, so you may try there.
