Drinkable. Incredibly drinkable.
After I took my first sip, I turned to my wife and told her that she had to try this. Granted, she was drinking a Founders Breakfast Stout at the time, so I’m sure the flavor clash didn’t give the beer justice. However, she immediately wanted to trade with me. I’m selfish and told her that this was mine, but we had more in the fridge.
Oasis Slow Ride is an American pale ale that has a citrus and floral profile that makes it a very tasty beer. Granted, it’s not supposed to be as hoppy as their Meta Modern IPA; it does seem to have that hoppy aftertaste after each sip. To me, it seems like a true session pale ale and it isn’t trying to be anything other than that.
This beer does, however, have a bit of controversy surrounding it. New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado claims that they have the trademark to the name Slow Ride. They have even gone as far as posting the filing summary of the judgment on their website. You can read more about it here. Basically, New Belgium claims that they reached out to Oasis after learning of their production of Slow Ride by offering solutions to allow both beers to co-exist in the market. Allegedly, Oasis did not want to work on an amicable solution.
Because we do not know the truth surrounding the claims between these breweries, we would just prefer to stay neutral and say that Oasis Slow Ride is a delicious beer that deserves to be in the market. The rich hazy gold color as well as the hoppy aroma make it appealing to the senses and the flavor is out of this world. This is definitely worth a buy if you come across it at your favorite beer proprietorship.
