I don’t think there’s any doubt in my mind that the can label for Art Car is probably the best out on the market right now. Local Houston-area street artist, GONZO247, designed the label after doing the art design for several of the brewery’s art cars in their fleet.
Now, those details fine and dandy, but the real reason why this is our beer of the week is because it’s an absolutely stellar west coast IPA. It’s the second year-round IPA the brewery produces in six-packs (Endeavour is a double IPA that is packaged in bombers year-round), but it has a completely different flavor profile than Elissa, the other IPA that Saint Arnold makes.
Using a blend of the popular Columbus, Cascade, and Simcoe hops, this beer achieves a more piney finish that is intensified after tasting the citrus body within the brew. Personally, I get a stark blood orange flavor on my palette and the nose lends itself to mango.
Since its release, this beer has been a year-round staple in our household as it is one of the top beer choices for my wife any place we go. I, too, love it very much and order it just as often as she does. I guess I’m spoiled to have this plentifully available, so it’s usually a bit of an afterthought when I’m at a bar. However, it’s a knockout of a beer and one of our absolute favorites made by a Houston institution.
