Every now and again, I have a horrendous day at work that just makes me want to come home and enjoy a beer (or three). Unfortunately, I knew I was running a bit low at the house, so it was time for a stop on the way home. Our Spec’s store in Galveston is the best beer store on the island, so instead of driving all the way in to League City, Friendswood, or Houston to stop for beer, I figured I’d hit the local store.
Upon arrival, I saw several brews that are favorites, so it was a good time to buy them all. I tried to stick with mostly hoppy options as the majority are pale ales and IPAs. On the IPA front, I went with Hops & Grain’s A Pale Mosaic (a personal favorite) and Saint Arnold Art Car IPA (a personal favorite of my wife).
For the pale ales, I stuck with a tried and true choice, Oasis Texas Brewing’s Slow Ride, and another Hops & Grain choice, The One They Call Zoe. For something a little different, I also grabbed Southern Star’s Pine Belt pale ale. It’s been years since I’ve had this beer, so I thought I’d give it another go. I can’t remember if I liked it or not. Finally, breaking the pale ale theme, I went with the recently released Karbach Zee German Pils.
All of the six packs I bought will be enjoyed over the next week or so by my wife and I. She loves Texas craft beer as much as I do and this will make a weekend at the house seem much more pleasurable.
